Trenchless sewer repair in Reno
A failing sewer line under a Reno home can be rebuilt from the inside, or replaced through two small pits, usually in a day. Here is how pipe lining and pipe bursting work, when each is the right call, and what to expect from a camera inspection before anyone quotes a repair.
Sewer Pipe Lining (CIPP)
A resin-saturated liner cured in place forms a new, jointless pipe inside the old one.

Pipe Bursting
A bursting head splits the old pipe while pulling new HDPE pipe in behind it, through two small pits.

Two ways to fix a sewer line in Reno without a trench
Cured-in-place pipe lining pulls or inverts a resin-saturated liner into the cleaned host pipe and cures it into a new, jointless pipe inside the old one. It works from an existing cleanout, takes about a day, and is the answer for cracked, root-intruded or corroded lines that still hold their shape.
Pipe bursting pulls a bursting head through the old pipe from a pit at each end, splitting it outward while new HDPE pipe follows behind. It is the answer for collapsed, bellied or undersized lines that cannot be lined.
Which one a Reno line needs is decided by a camera inspection, not by a sales pitch. A contractor who quotes a method before running the camera is guessing with your money.

What fails under Washoe County homes
Desert Southwest housing is mostly newer, so ABS and PVC laterals are common, but the older cores of these cities still have clay and cast iron. The bigger issue is under-slab plumbing in slab-on-grade homes, where cast iron drains have corroded and where earlier repairs were done by jackhammering the floor.
Caliche and expansive clay soils, extreme heat, and monsoon downpours that saturate dry ground cause pipe to shift and joints to separate. Aggressive, alkaline soil shortens the life of cast iron, and tree roots from mesquite, palo verde, and ficus travel far for water.
